The Baltimore Ravens were put on alert all week leading up to their matchup with the visiting Oakland Raiders to not look past them and ahead to the Pittsburgh Steelers and week 11. Message received, as the Ravens routed the Oakland Raiders yesterday 55-20.
Baltimore scored a touchdown on their opening drive and never looked back. The Ravens jumped out to an early 10-0 lead and never saw that lead be less than a touchdown the entire game. Not a shocker that the offense looked great, as they played at home, but no one expected the offense to look as good as it did, especially since running back Ray Rice was held to just 35 rushing yards. Joe Flacco was a man on a mission looking almost unbeatable at times.
Flacco and the Ravens offense was solid all game and was not forced to punt until the latter part of the third quarter, although Flacco did throw a second quarter interception. The Baltimore defense picked up Flacco after that interception holding Oakland to a field goal and made it the sixth straight drive the defense held the opponent to a field goal in the red zone.
Baltimore found almost everyway possible to score yesterday, except for a defensive touchdown. Flacco threw three touchdowns, Rice rushed for a touchdown, Jacoby Jones returned a kickoff 105 yards for a touchdown, Justin Tucker kicked two field goals and even punter Sam Koch ran for a touchdown on a fake field goal, it was fun to watch.
Flacco finished the day completing 21 of 33 passes for 341 yards with three touchdowns and one interception. Joe shared the wealth as he completed a pass to eight different receivers, seven of which had more than 25 yards receiving. TE Dennis Pitta and WR Torrey Smith each had 67 yards to lead the group and were the recipients of all three Flacco touchdowns, as Pitta had one and Smith had two.
Baltimore will enjoy this win as they improve to 7-2 on the season, but must turn their focus to the marquee matchup coming up in week 11 when they travel to Pittsburgh to take on the rival Steelers on Sunday Night football.
Check back tomorrow where we will dive deeper into the offense's success and the defense's performance from yesterday.
